Iambe biedt dagbesteding en stagemogelijkheden aan jongeren met een verstandelijke beperking. Op alle locaties werken deelnemers onder begeleiding van vakkundige werkbegeleiders aan hun vaardigheden en hun ontwikkeling. Aan samenwerking, vakmanschap en dienstverlening. Met trots presenteren zij wat zij kunnen.

Bij Iambe werken over het algemeen jongvolwassenen met een verstandelijke beperking. Om bij Iambe te kunnen werken hoef je geen ervaren bakker, wever of winkelbediende te zijn. Het is belangrijk dat je graag een vak wilt leren en dat je wilt leren van de mensen om je heen.

In de winkel aan het Van der Helstplein worden alle producten uit de bakkerij en de textielwerkplaats verkocht. Je leert hier met klanten omgaan, verschillende soorten koffie te zetten, broodjes beleggen en met de kassa werken. De winkels zijn echte buurtwinkels. Er komen dagelijks veel vaste klanten die graag een praatje met je maken onder het genot van een kopje koffie en een van de beste croissants van Amsterdam (volgens de bekende fijnproever wijlen Johannes van Dam).
